Holistically Supporting the Breastfeeding Dyad | A Course for Providers

Education and change starts with us! As birth workers and healthcare providers you have the ability to empower and educate your patients to make informed choices, keep them connected to their instincts, and you can change or create research based policy in the facilities you work in.

This class is for you if:

  • You’re a practitioner or caregiver who interacts with and  supports lactating folks. RNs, birth and postpartum doulas, OBs, midwives, Pediatricians and family practice providers - this one’s for you! Seasoned or brand new, come join us.

  • You have a desire to shore up your lactation knowledge and practical skills so you can better support your clients whether at home, hospital, or in the community.

  • You feel the way the medical system and its policies butt up against intuitive, holistic breastfeeding care and you seek a different way to center the dyad.

  • You want to connect with other aligned caregivers who reject the push for disconnection and disempowerment that breastfeeding families are experiencing even before their baby arrives.

  • You understand that birth matters when it comes to the breastfeeding journey.

We discuss:

  • How lactation works (anatomy, physiology, hormones)

  • Changing the language we use with families (and why it matters)

  • Prenatal preparation

  • Practical skills to get comfortable with

  • Helpful tools and when they are appropriate

  • Common interventions that interfere with BF + how to help families navigate

  • Advocacy in the birth space (and beyond)

  • The dyad as one unit

  • Common pitfalls & challenges

  • When to loop in an IBCLC

This class is taught by two nurses and IBCLCs, Krista Tarantino of Earth Milk Moon and Rachel Mosolf of Reclamation Postpartum.

This is a live online class and will be recorded for those who can’t attend live. You will have access to a class portal where you will receive downloadable PDFs and have access to the recording for one month.

Course approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for 3 CEs.
